Feeling like he lost a sense of his cultural identity and Spanish language skills, Acosta hoped to create a monthly newspaper to highlight the beauty and diversity of Latinos. The financial fallout for Burt Marshall’s investors just got worse, bankruptcy records show: Nearly 1,000 people invested more than $90 million in Madison County businessman Burt Marshall’s promissory note fund, which promised an 8% interest rate. He filed bankruptcy about a year ago after dozens of his investors started demanding their money back. Investors now might get less than 10% of their money back, even less than previously estimated.

Anheuser-Busch brewery workers avoid strike: Workers at Anheuser-Busch breweries, including at New York’s largest brewery just outside Baldwinsville, reached a tentative deal Wednesday, avoiding a strike. The agreement was announced in statements by the Teamsters and Anheuser-Busch. The contract, which still needs to be ratified, is good for five years. Here are the details.

Brandon Williams: State lawmakers approved new congressional district maps Wednesday that will make it more difficult for Rep. Brandon Williams to win reelection in Central New York this November. The Democratic-controlled state Assembly and Senate quickly passed the redistricting plan, without substantial debate, in votes about 15 minutes apart at the state Capitol and Gov. Kathy Hochul signed it.

Orange men’s lacrosse falls to Army in OT: No. 7/8 Syracuse and No. 5 Army played a terrific men’s lacrosse game on Wednesday at the JMA Wireless Dome in which the stats were air-tight, the lead changed hands six times and no team stretched the margin past three the whole evening. It ended in disappointment for SU, though, as Army won 14-13 in overtime.
