Today we released the first episode in our Wichita ThunderHockey 101 series. Anthony Bengewas the mastermind in producing this series for our Thunder fans and I thought it was a brilliant idea. Before hockey season started, I had a conversation with one of our sponsors who attends a few games a year. He brought up the point that the mid-west, especially Kansas, isn't a place that necessarily understands the technicalities of hockey. He knew for a fact that him and his family weren't the only ones in the building that didn't know the calls that were being made. Now our Hockey 101 series is unfolding. We will play a break down of a new call each month in hopes that our fans will get a comical yet intellectual version of "what the heck is actually going on here." If you don't have time to produce videos with players, a good alternative that I've seen throughout the hockey world is the Lehigh Valley Phantomsdo an awesome job with providing in-game visuals for their fans. For specific calls and plays, they create an overlay with a photo of a "referee," the name of the call and a quick explanation. Fan and sponsor input is always great because sometimes we get to wrapped in the hockey world that we forget to think outside of the box.

Love this. Great job Danielle! It's very true, there's either that one fan that knows EVERYTHING about hockey or those that know very little to nothing here.

I can finally reveal a project that I've been working on for a very long time! At the start of the year, I was able to work on designing this year's Storm Tracker vehicle wrap(with a lot of help from everyone in the creative department) This was my very first vehicle wrap design and I'm just grateful that I was given the chance to put my creative ideas into the world! I've produced a lot of graphics and animations I've been proud of with WTEN-TV but this has to be by far my favorite! It's just so exciting to see the design I came up with driving through the Capital Region!

Yesterday, we, Wichita Thunder, released this years holiday video. The following year the team utilized all their players in the video and while brainstorming I had only intended that I would be able to use three to four players. I was having some serious creative mental block with how I was going to create an entertaining and funny video for the Thunder fans.Jessica Rhodeswas my savior because she came running into my office one day and showed me SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's "I Wish It Was Christmas Today" video featuring Jimmy Fallon,Horatio Sanz,Chris Kattan, andTracy Morgan. I recommend you watch their original video because it is fantastic.Check out the Thunder's rendition of "I Wish It Was Christmas Today" inspired by Saturday Night Live.

Just a little preview of the dysfunction that I had to go with the players to get footage of our fun Holiday video that we are going to be releasing soon.Hint: It should be entertaining for all...even if you do not fancy hockey.

In the middle of creating a billboard for our Star Wars Night on December 30th, I found an old generic graphic I made to promote the Thunder during the nights that we are away or don't have games to promote.Being able to create a new brand for the Wichita Thunderhas been exhilarating for me because I can be as creative as I want. That is the best part of starting a new hockey season, starting from scratch and creating a new bold "look" that will catch the fans eyes as their driving to work or scrolling through their news feeds. I got the idea of the lightning from the Ottawa Senators during the play offs last season. They utilize action shots and lighting to create a bold look to promote their games which I thought was unique and eye catching so I had to tailor it to the Wichita Thunder's new brand.Be on the look out for our Star Wars billboards on Christmas day as your travelling to your families house PLUS don't forget to purchase your tickets or ask about our package that includes four tickets our premium section, two light sabers, a ten dollar gift card to Bonefish Grill, and a junior pass for Xtreme Racing.
