During an enormous gathering in Soroti City, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi vowed to breathe new life into the cooperative unions of Teso, uplift the local economy, enhance agricultural productivity, improve infrastructure, support young people, and combat graft, all wrapped in a detailed strategy to overhaul the area's financial health and public services.
The FDC's presidential hopeful, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, committed to revitalizing Teso's cooperative organizations and fortifying the region's financial landscape at a colossal rally in Soroti City, attracting vast crowds that showcased united resistance against the ruling party.
Pulling up precisely at 4:10 PM, Mafabi's motorcade was welcomed with joyous cries, rhythmic tunes, and enthusiastic dances, causing a brief halt to daily commerce.
He was joined by prominent FDC figures such as Soroti City Woman MP Joan Alobo Acom, Soroti District Woman MP Ann Adeke Ebaju, Gweri County MP Tom Julius Ekudo, and former Soroti East MP Moses Attan Okia.
At Arrow Square, Mafabi unveiled a holistic blueprint for economic resurgence, societal advancement, and empowering the younger generation in Teso.
He portrayed cooperative unions as 'the very spine supporting community unity and collective wealth-building' and blamed the incumbent administration for undermining efforts that previously empowered local farmers and merchants.
'Cooperatives form the bedrock of resilient community economies. They allow groups to forge employment opportunities, engage in equitable trade, and accumulate shared wealth,' Mafabi explained.
'Sadly, President Museveni's regime has torn down these frameworks that previously instilled pride and financial security in people's lives.'
Mafabi reminisced about Teso's bygone era of abundance, pointing to the region's former vast livestock populations and bountiful crop fields. He assured recompense within two years for households impacted by cattle thefts amid the rebellions of the 1980s and 1990s.
He further committed to emphasizing farming, creativity, and industrial growth, such as launching a cassava starch processing plant in Teso to create employment and boost agricultural earnings.
