The premise seemed to make for an interesting film but there was not much cohesion to it. Some of the stories are either too short or too artsy and left me with a sense of not really "getting it".

Such a great cast, such a waste. "New York, I love You" is a series of short stories about different people in New York, and their relationships. So many stories are meshed together that you really don't care for most of the characters or their situations. I hoped this was going to be a newer "Love Actually." Instead it's a collection of "arty" short films, strung together very poorly. You would think a cast that includes, Bradley Cooper, Orlando Bloom, Shia LeBouf, Natalie Portman, Chris Cooper, Christina Ricci, Justin Bartha, Ethan Hawke, Robin Wright Penn, Cloris Leachman, Maggie Q, Andy Garcia, Blake Lively, James Caan, Hayden Christensen, and Anton Yelchin would be a GREAT movie. Unfortunately, actors don't always make the movie. "New York, I Love You" I hate the yankees, and I hate you too. Don't watch this crap, no wonder I had never heard of it til I saw it on the shelf at the library,

With anthology films, a certain amount of inconsistency is to be expected from a random selection of directors. But that's not the problem with "New York, I Love You." What's wrong with the movie is that nearly all of the selections are pretty much forgettable which is disappointing, considering the remarkable array of talent behind and in front of the camera.(That compliment should not include Yvan Attal, by the way.) For example, Chris Cooper almost makes a segment stand out singlehandledly. The true exception is the one directed by Mira Nair and starring Irrfan Khan and Natalie Portman(she also wrote and directed another segment) that encapsulates everything that makes New York City special with different cultures interacting with each other on a daily basis. Sadly, there is very little else like that here. In fact, the movie makes very little use of the city as a whole, apparently keeping to Manhattan and a little of Brooklyn on the side. For example, three segments are set at least partly in Central Park. And even then, some of the encounters just center around people stepping outside to smoke, instead of waiting outside for a bus which I would have found more authentic.

The film was so so. I was expecting it to be much better. I felt that some of the stories didn't connect well. Also I felt that some of the actors were miscast in the film. I did like the Anton Yelchin story in the film, I thought it was hilarious.
