My Project
I want to be mindful of neurodiversity. I have students with anxiety and/or ADHD. I help them learn how to help themselves with simple tools in the classroom, because I want all learners to feel included and capable of learning.
I want all of my students to feel comfortable being themselves, no matter how they identify themselves (gender, race, culture).
This project will help bring colored pencils to those who need them to express themselves in their work. The mechanical pencils with the positive affirmation message will be great for the spring. It is a good time to reassure kids that they are special and we accept them for who they are. These are all items that can help their mental health as they continue their journey.
My students who struggle with ADHD like to use colored pencils to help them stay focused. It really helps when kids learn differently and I like to try to find ways to have everyone feel included in the class and feel successful. The snacks are used daily to keep hunger at bay before lunch. The safety glasses for the Solar Eclipse will help assure all of our remaining students in the school will have glasses during our partial eclipse.
Acceptance of others who are racially, culturally, or who identify as a different gender is very important in our world. Loving and caring for one another, begins with knowledge.
