  • Webdesk webdesk.pisd.edu (Classlink) gives students access to their online textbooks and digital academic resources AND gives them access to files at school or in the cloud. This lightweight alternative to carrying textbooks around all day gives students access to all instructional/textbook-related materials they need. Students can customize their Webdesk dashboard by rearranging tiles, organizing tiles into folders, and changing the theme/background. Some apps/online textbooks are assigned to the Webdesk dashboard via our SIS (Frontline Teams) and those cannot be edited.  My Classes A student's My Classes will look something like the image below. Textbooks and digital resources needed for the class on a student's schedule will be conveniently located here by subject/class period. Open the "PISD Pinnacle" Gradebook app to view your grades. To access your H and S Drives from Webdesk, click the My Files icon at the bottom middle of the main Webdesk page. Then click School Network. Your H Drive is the "_Home Folder" and you will also see any S Drive folders to which you are associated. Try verifying your Webdesk password (LDAP) and then try again. Instructions: https://www.pisd.edu/Page/17506 If you ever see this pop-up message, do not close it out. Please enter your password twice and click Save. This is will ensure access to your online textbooks and resources.

  • (This does NOT apply to Chromebooks. Students are automatically signed into Webdesk when they sign into a Chromebook). These directions are for teachers of either younger grades or special ed who would like to give their students easier access to Webdesk. Rather than having the student open the Chrome browser and type webdesk.pisd.edu, follow the steps below to add the Webdesk shortcut to their desktop.  Add the Webdesk shortcut to the desktop 1. Sign into a network laptop or desktop computer as the student. 2. Open the PISD Apps folder.  3. Right-click the PISD Webdesk shortcut and send it to the desktop. Students can double-click the Webdesk shortcut to launch it. The next step is to set Chrome as the default browser on the computer. See below. Set Chrome as the default browser 1. Click on the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" (3 vertical dots - located on the top-right corner of the browser, select "Settings"). It will open a new tab titled 'Settings' in the browser. 2. From the top of the page, go down to the "default browser" (the 4th subtitle, right below "search engine") and click on "Make DEFAULT". If you do not see "Make DEFAULT" button, the Chrome browser is the default. 3. The Settings > Default apps section will be opened. Under "Web browser", click on the name of the current default browser will open the "Choose an app" list. Select "Google Chrome".

  • Educators can use the "My Classes" button, or Teacher Console, to view digital textbooks and resources, as well as customize apps for their classes. It allows teachers to "push" out apps to the students' "My Backpack", which is on each student's dashboard.  Instructions: 1. At the bottom of Webdesk, click the "My Classes" icon to open the Teacher Console. 2. Your rostered classes will open in a new tab. Here you will see the digital textbooks and resources assigned to you from our SIS (Teams).    Assigning apps to students:  3. Clicking on one of the classes will bring you into a more detailed view where you will see all the apps assigned to that class. 4. Apps can be launched by clicking on them or removed by hovering over them and then clicking Remove.   5. Clicking on Add New App will bring out the App Library which will allow you to select which apps you want to add to this class. The App Library in Teacher Console will mirror the App Library in LaunchPad giving you access to all the same apps.   6. Once you have added apps to your classes, your students will be able to access those apps on their My Classes.

  • Plano ISD teachers and staff are able to use the Canvas learning management tool to attend and create courses for professional learning. Note that students do not have Canvas accounts.   • If you cannot access online textbooks or other online programs from Webdesk, you might need to verify your PISD credentials in Webdesk or clear your cache.   Verify your Webdesk Password (Update Your Password "LDAP") Go to your profile at the top right Click Settings Click Sign In Click the key under "LDAP/Active Directory" Enter your password two times Click Save. Clear the Cache (Browsing history) Click on the three vertical dots on the top right of the browser toolbar to open the Chrome menu Click on More tools Clear Browsing Data Check the boxes next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" Click on Clear browsing data. The Chromebook cache and cookies and now deleted.  Accessing Webdesk on a Desktop computer at home or at school is best if you are signed into Chrome. PISD staff and students can follow these easy steps at school or at home to sign into Chrome. Open the Chrome web browser. Click on the person icon at the top right of the screen.  Click "Sign into Chrome".
