Mark Wahlberg's Wild Night on Graham Norton's Show: A Recall
Graham Norton, the renowned host, vividly recounted an incident involving Mark Wahlberg, who, under the influence of alcohol, caused quite a stir on his show. During the episode, Wahlberg's behavior was so erratic that it left a lasting impression on Norton and the audience.
Norton, a five-time BAFTA TV Award winner, shared insights at the 2025 Henley Literary Festival, as reported by The Independent. He revealed that Wahlberg's inebriated state was a result of his arrival, not a production-induced state. Wahlberg, despite not appearing drunk upon arrival, transformed into a different person within minutes of the show's start.
Norton described the scene: 'Mark Wahlberg was a peculiar guest. He seemed normal at first, sharing stories about his film and stunts. But then, within 15 minutes, his true state emerged, and it was chaotic.'
The incident occurred in February 2013, during the promotion of 'Broken City.' Wahlberg's behavior was disruptive, as he continuously interrupted fellow guests Sarah Silverman and Michael Fassbender. He even sat on Norton's lap and played with his nipples, causing a tense atmosphere.
Norton noted, 'It was challenging to have a conversation because he kept interrupting. Michael Fassbender was in the middle of a story, and it was clear that Wahlberg's presence was causing a disturbance.'
In an interview with Digital Spy, Wahlberg addressed the controversy, acknowledging that some took his antics too seriously. Norton, in a separate interview, described Wahlberg as a 'really lovely guy' and attributed the incident to a moment of realization about one's drinking.
Norton emphasized, 'It's a common experience to realize you're the most intoxicated person in a room. Wahlberg's behavior was a result of this, and I don't hold it against him. It was just an amusing night.'
